Learning Support

Understanding each child. Supporting their growth.

At St Agatha’s, every child is known, valued and encouraged to flourish. We recognise that students bring different strengths, experiences and learning needs, and we work alongside families to understand how best to support their growth.

Our approach combines high expectations, purposeful teaching and personalised support to help students participate in learning and develop confidence in their abilities.

Supporting learning in the classroom

Teachers respond to students’ individual needs through their planning, teaching and assessment. Adjustments to learning activities, resources and classroom approaches help students access learning and demonstrate their understanding.

Working with families and drawing on specialist advice where appropriate, we seek to understand each child’s strengths, identify areas requiring support and review their progress.

Working in partnership with families

You know your child best. Your insights help us understand their interests, achievements and the areas where they may need additional support.

We encourage open conversations between families and teachers so we can work towards shared goals and support each child’s learning, wellbeing and sense of belonging.

If your child has an identified learning need, a disability or requires additional support, please contact us to discuss their needs and the options available.

Recognising strengths and extending learning

Learning support also means recognising when students need greater challenge.

Our renewed focus on gifted and talented education aims to identify students’ strengths and provide opportunities to deepen their understanding and extend their learning.
