Gifted and Talented Education

Recognising potential. Extending learning.

Every child brings their own strengths, interests and abilities to school. At St Agatha’s, our renewed focus on gifted and talented education aims to recognise students’ potential and provide appropriate challenge to extend their learning.

We want students to feel encouraged to ask questions, explore ideas and develop confidence in their abilities. Working alongside families, we seek to understand each child’s strengths and identify opportunities for growth.

Supporting individual growth

High expectations and purposeful teaching underpin our approach to learning. Extension is about deepening understanding, encouraging thoughtful questions and giving students opportunities to apply their knowledge in new ways.

As we strengthen our approach to gifted and talented education, our focus is on recognising individual learning needs and providing meaningful opportunities for students to develop their abilities.

Connecting through SPARK

St Agatha’s participates in SPARK, a high potential program connecting students from neighbouring Catholic Schools Broken Bay schools. Different schools lead a learning focus each term, creating opportunities for selected students to explore their interests and learn alongside peers.

St Agatha’s will lead Stop Motion Animation for selected Stage 3 students, bringing together creativity, technology and storytelling. Students will have opportunities to develop their collaboration and problem-solving skills as they plan, create and bring their ideas to life.

Working together to understand your child

Families offer valuable insights into their child’s interests, strengths and learning experiences. We welcome these conversations as we work together to support each student’s growth.
