STEM Learning

Explore ideas. Create solutions. Build confidence.

Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics help children make sense of the world and discover how they can contribute to it.

At St Agatha’s, coding, robotics and design provide practical opportunities for students to explore ideas, test solutions and solve problems. These experiences build curiosity, creative thinking and confidence in applying new skills.

Strong foundations for discovery

Our approach brings explicit teaching together with opportunities to investigate and apply learning.

Students build knowledge and skills, then use them to ask questions, explore possibilities and work through challenges. We encourage them to explain their thinking, learn from mistakes and consider how their ideas could be improved.

Coding and robotics

Coding and robotics encourage students to think logically, break challenges into manageable steps and explore how instructions lead to different outcomes.

Through these experiences, students develop problem-solving skills, persistence and confidence as they test ideas and refine their solutions.

Learning through design

Design challenges give students opportunities to turn ideas into practical solutions.

Planning, creating, testing and improving help children understand that learning is a process. Working with others also encourages them to share ideas, listen to different perspectives and communicate their thinking.

Creativity meets technology

STEM learning creates space for imagination as well as logical thinking.

Through SPARK, a high potential program connecting neighbouring Catholic Schools Broken Bay schools, St Agatha’s will lead Stop Motion Animation for selected Stage 3 students. This planned learning opportunity combines technology, storytelling and design while developing creativity, collaboration and problem-solving.
